How to play & controls Brick Arena
Brick Arena puts two players at opposite ends of one shared wall of bricks, ten columns by fourteen rows. Each of you guards a goal line just behind your paddle and starts with a ball of your own, so two balls that can cost HP are in play from the first serve. A ball that crosses a goal line goes back to the player who missed, who serves it into the bricks 1.5 seconds later.
A ball takes the colour of the last paddle that touched it, and the bricks it breaks score for that player. Points turn into damage at 6 HP per 100, but bricks never take more than 50 HP in one tick, the cost of a goal. In my 30-game bot simulation at Normal, goals did over five times the damage bricks did, and every game ended in a KO, after a median of 82 seconds.
The opening wall is one random half copied with a 180° turn, so both players face the same layout; the top player's view is rotated, so everyone plays from the bottom.
Modes
Solo play (Easy · Normal · Hard)
One match against the AI. The level sets its aiming error (up to 220, 110 or 30 units either way, held for 0.4 seconds; the paddle is 144 wide) and the ball speed (88%, 100% or 112%). Only solo play can be paused.
Today's challenge
Solo play against the Normal AI on a layout the server picks for everyone that day. Your result is your brick score, not the win, and the server re-runs your recorded paddle inputs to check it.
VS PLAYER
Signed-in 1v1: 'Find opponent' (you can practise against the AI while waiting), a 10-minute invite code, or a challenge from the online list. A player who drops out has 90 seconds to return or loses.

Strategy tips
Aim with the contact point
On a return only the contact point counts: offset from the centre times 62°, so halfway to the edge gives 31°. Paddle movement adds no spin, and a ball that clips the paddle's side just rebounds.
Know which ball can hurt you
Only the two original balls cost 50 HP; white-ringed extras from purple bricks vanish at a goal line. When both kinds arrive together, save the original. Return an opponent's extra ball and it turns your colour and scores for you.
Rallies get faster
Each paddle return adds 0.225 units per tick, so after about 32 returns a ball crosses the field in 1.1 seconds instead of 1.8. A goal resets it to starting speed. Walls and bricks can tilt a ball past 62°, but its vertical speed never falls below a quarter of the total.
Attack where the AI isn't looking
The AI follows only the nearest ball coming its way. While that ball is among the bricks it waits halfway between the centre and the ball, and only predicts the landing spot once the ball enters the 310-unit gap in front of it. Two balls arriving together on opposite sides is how even Hard concedes.
Drift back to the middle
The AI strikes the ball 0.55 of a half-paddle off centre to angle it away from the side your paddle is on. Returning to the middle keeps both sides in reach; at top speed the paddle crosses the field in about 0.37 seconds.
Chains score more than they hurt
Each explosion step adds 0.3 to the multiplier, up to ×4. Explosions remove tough bricks outright and set off any blast, bomb, heal or multiball brick they reach, for the ball's owner; only steel survives. Damage stops at 50 HP per tick but score has no cap, which matters in Today's challenge.
Heal at the last moment
Within a tick, damage lands before healing, so breaking a green brick in the tick you would drop to 0 keeps you alive.
